Accessibility Statement

How Showday works with assistive technology, what we've done, and how to ask for help.

1. Our commitment

Showday is for everyone who wants to go to live events. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1 at Level AA across the pages we control, and to treat accessibility as something we keep improving rather than a box we tick once. Where we fall short today, we want to hear about it.

This statement applies to showday.co.uk and dashboard.showday.co.uk. Individual event pages may contain content uploaded by promoters, for which the promoter is the controller — we ask every promoter to provide accessible content and access information, but the Showday platform cannot always guarantee it.

2. What we've done

  • Designed for keyboard-only navigation — every interactive element is reachable without a mouse, with a visible focus ring;
  • Semantic HTML for screen readers (VoiceOver, NVDA, TalkBack) — headings, landmarks, form labels, and button roles marked up correctly;
  • Text and background contrast meets or exceeds 4.5:1 for body copy and 3:1 for large headings;
  • Font size scales with your browser's text-size setting, and the layout reflows at zoom up to 400%;
  • No auto-playing audio or video;
  • We respect the prefers-reduced-motion setting — animations pause or shorten if your system is set to reduce motion;
  • Form errors are announced alongside visual highlights, and inputs are clearly labelled;
  • Alt text on all Showday-authored imagery; we ask promoters to supply alt text for event posters and prompt them when it's missing.

3. Known limitations

We are being honest about the things we know aren't fully accessible yet, or where our platform depends on third parties we don't fully control.

  • Promoter-uploaded imagery may occasionally lack alt text. If a listing you care about does, please email us and we'll get it fixed.
  • Stripe Elements — the card-entry fields on our checkout are provided by Stripe. Stripe aims for WCAG 2.1 AA compliance, and we have no way to override the iframe's internals. If you hit an issue there, we will help you complete the purchase another way.
  • PDF tickets — PDF accessibility depends on your reader and the assistive technology. A fully accessible HTML version of every ticket is always available at showday.co.uk/ticket.html using your order reference and email.
  • Maps (where shown) are embedded from third-party services that may not be fully accessible to every assistive technology. The venue address is always available as readable text next to any map.
  • QR codes — every QR code is accompanied by the order reference in plain text for people who cannot scan or see a QR image.

4. Access at the event itself

Showday is the ticketing platform; the promoter and venue decide what access looks like on the day. If you need step-free access, a companion ticket, BSL interpretation, a sensory-friendly environment, or any other reasonable adjustment, contact the promoter directly using the details in your order confirmation email.

Most UK venues are signed up to the Attitude is Everything Charter of Best Practice for live-event accessibility — look for their Gold, Silver or Bronze badge. attitudeiseverything.org.uk

The Sunflower lanyard is widely recognised at UK venues and festivals as a signal that someone may need extra time or support; wearing one does not require disclosure of a specific condition.

If the promoter doesn't respond

Email hello@showday.co.uk with your order reference. We will chase them and, where needed, escalate.

5. Asking us for help

If any part of Showday is not working with your assistive technology, email hello@showday.co.uk with "Accessibility" in the subject line. We aim to respond within one business day. Tell us:

  • The page you were trying to use (a URL helps);
  • What you were trying to do;
  • What went wrong;
  • The browser and, if applicable, the assistive technology you were using (for example: "Safari on iOS 17 with VoiceOver").

If you were trying to buy a ticket when you hit the problem, we will complete the purchase for you manually and email the ticket through — you shouldn't miss out because the site let you down.

6. Reporting an accessibility issue

We welcome reports even if you're not stuck right now. Email hello@showday.co.uk or, for formal complaints, use our Complaints Procedure.

7. Testing and review

We test Showday with keyboard-only navigation, VoiceOver (macOS and iOS), NVDA (Windows), and automated contrast and markup tools. We re-check the core buyer journey (home, browse, event, checkout, ticket access) on each significant design change. This statement will be reviewed at least annually — next review due April 2027.

8. Your rights

If you believe we have discriminated against you on the basis of a protected characteristic under the Equality Act 2010, you can complain under our Complaints Procedure or contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service on 0808 800 0082 or equalityadvisoryservice.com.
